More Syria

Due to the cover of my camera , some pics are partialy covered. SORRY.

Syria A mix of ancient civilisations

At Hamr we saw the big wooden Nourias, Huge ancient wooden wheels that lift water. In Palmyra you find many archeological sites dating around 100AD and maybe before. Greek, Roman, Arabic, Crusaders, all mixed into one!!!

Syria, Damascus 2005. One thing I can say! To the contrary of what you might think... this country has SOOOO much to offer.Syria is rich of ancient architecture dating to the beginning of our western civilization. The Eufrates (Al Furat), Old Greek, Roman, Arabic ruins, Crusaders, You name it they got it!!! Very biblical as wel! Damascus itself has one of thw most original Souks I have ever seen, with totaly non piushing vendors. You feel as if time stood stil! Take a Turkish bath at the different local HAMAS and go searching for a plethora of antiques and tapistries dating back manny years!! The different mosques are impressive. The oldst one in the world (they say) is downtown . Build together and shared with the christians around 700-100 AD until the local ruler at the time gave the christians alot of land so they could dedicate the church for their religion. John the Baptist still lies there!!!

Nina loves waiving at the airplanes flying by and waves at all of them , just like her mother. All is well!!! Alex, success with your exam today!!! You without a drivers licence is not possible!!! I am sure you will do well!!!

The complex is quite interesting. St. Bernadette supposidly saw a vision (actually 16 times) of the holy mother in a cave. This cave had a little pool of water in it. St Bernadette ordered to built a church on this spot. Pilgrims come from all over the world to pray, and take jerry-cans of holy water from the cave.
